Future-Proofing the EU Single Market: Closing the skills gap and unlocking labour mobility

Across the EU, businesses face growing challenges in attracting and retaining talent. Four out of five SMEs report difficulties in finding workers with the right skills — a gap that threatens Europe’s capacity to deliver on the green and digital transitions.

With many proposals deriving from the European Commission’s Union of Skills strategy being developed in the near future, EFB has put together a paper including priority recommendations that we think ought to be considered when tackling the challenge of skills shortages and labour mobility within the Single Market.
