October 2025

BRUSSELS, The European Parliament’s plenary in Strasbourg revealed more division within the debates for the simplification mandate of Omnibus I. While most aspects of this package have been agreed upon, more remains to be discussed as it pertains to changes of certain amendments of the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

It is clear from the vote’s outcome yesterday, where 318 MEPs voted against, 309 votes in favour and 34 abstained, that MEPs are not yet satisfied with the compromises reached In the this part of the proposal.

We understand that the democratic process takes time, however, we urge MEPs to come to a quick agreement of the Omnibus I file. Europe’s companies rely on the clarity of these amendments to operate within the Single Market.

Since further amendments will be discussed in upcoming part plenary of 13th November,  European Family Businesses asks that MEPs to ensure that the feedback they give from now until that date is clear, straight to the point and works towards the overall goals of the CSRD, CSDDD and Europe’s competitiveness.
